This brief paper is an attempt to critically assess Philippine prehistoric research from the American Occupation to the present. It tackles two main issues: first, the internal issue which is generated within the scientific field of archaeology conducted; and second, the external issue generated outside archaeology and answers the question: why pursue this particular science?
