Open Call for Lectures and Webinars

2

In pursuit of its mandate to raise awareness and public understanding of the social sciences, the Philippine Social Science Council (PSSC) has dedicated sections of its revamped website to repositories of social science lectures and webinars.

Since its launch in August 2020, the PSSC website has been visited nearly 15,000 times by over 11,000 users (as of 17 December 2020). In order to make more social science knowledge products available to our growing audience, as well as to better promote the activities of our affiliates, we encourage all of our member-organizations to send us their lectures and webinars for inclusion in the abovementioned repositories.

Social Science and Society Lectures

The Social Science and Society Lectures page consists of lectures on various social science topics delivered either by individuals who are affiliated with PSSC or during PSSC-organized events.

Should you wish to have a lecture included in this repository, kindly send the following materials to info@pssc.org.ph:

  1. Video file of the lecture in MP4 format (video length limit: 12 hours) to be uploaded on PSSC’s YouTube channel or link to a video already uploaded on a different YouTube channel
  2. Write-up (maximum of 700 words) mentioning (1) the name and position of the lecturer, (2) the details of the event (i.e., the name, date, and organizer/s of the event) wherein the lecture was given, and (3) a brief overview of the topics covered. Member-organizations may also opt to have the Publications and Media Officer draft the write-up in their stead.
  3. High-resolution photo for the publicity material
  4. Verbatim quote (80-word maximum) for the publicity material

Below is an example of a publicity material produced for a lecture by PSSC Executive Director Dr. Lourdes Portus during the Asia Pacific Consortium of Researchers and Educators (APCORE) Convention and International Conference in September 2019:

Please note that each lecture uploaded on our website is promoted through PSSC’s various social media accounts. In order to maximize audience engagement for each, they are not posted all at once. Thus, we ask for your understanding if your submitted lecture is not immediately uploaded and publicized through our digital channels.

Webinars

The Webinars page includes webinars organized or co-organized by PSSC and its member-organizations.

Should you wish to have a webinar included in this repository, kindly send the following materials to info@pssc.org.ph:

  1. Video file of the webinar in MP4 format (video length limit: 12 hours) to be uploaded on PSSC’s YouTube channel or link to a video already uploaded on a different YouTube channel
  2. Write-up (maximum of 500 words) mentioning (1) the details of the webinar (i.e., the title, date, and organizer/s of the webinar), (2) the names and positions of the panelists, and (3) a brief overview of the objectives or topics covered. Member-organizations may also opt to have the Publications and Media Officer draft the write-up in their stead.
