Ronald D. Holmes is an educator, researcher, and expert in the field of political science. He is a professor at De La Salle University of the Philippines and was the Chair of the Department of Political Science for six years, during which he pioneered several programs under his leadership[3]. Since entering the academe in 1985, he has assumed various administrative roles in the university, such as the Executive Director of the De La Salle University System, Executive Vice President of the College of Saint Benilde, Executive Vice President of De La Salle Santiago Zobel, and Director for Institutional Planning, and Research and Advocacy Office of De La Salle University[2]. He also served as the Chairperson of the DLSU Committee on National Issues[1]. In terms of his educational background, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in History-Political Science at the De La Salle University of the Philippines and took up his Master of Arts in Political Science at the University of the Philippines[3]. He then earned his Ph.D. from the Australian National University in International, Political, and Strategic Studies[3].
Aside from exectutive roles in the academe, Dr. Holmes took on the role of Co-Chair of the Technical Working Group on Faculty and Staff Development Grants of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Acting Executive Director of the Philippines Social Science Council[2]. He chaired both the Technical Panel for the Social Sciences and the Committee on Political Science Technical Panel for the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Communications of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED)[3]. He is also the president of Pulse Asia Research, the leading private, non-stock, and non-profit research organization for the social sciences in the Philippines[2]. His research interests revolve around comparative democratization, public opinion, and public finance. He has released various publications surveying the political machine of the Philippines and tackling issues such as regimes and administrative systems, as well as state financing[1]. Dr. Holmes has engaged in various media interviews with both local and foreign organizations and is a Visiting Researcher and Guest Scholar at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at Kyoto University[1].
