WE’RE HIRING! Knowledge Management Officer and Librarian

Location: Onsite – Philippine Social Science Center, Commonwealth Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City

Term: Full-time – Flexible 40 hours a week

Salary: Salaries at the Philippine Social Science Council (PSSC) are dependent on applicable salary scales, and internal pay policies including equity considerations and budget. Due to how salary negotiations perpetuate existing structural inequities, PSSC has moved away from salary negotiation processes for any candidate. We will make our best offer, and it will be the same regardless of the candidate. The salary range for this position is between PhP 25,000 and PhP 30,000 (gross).

Benefits: Upon regularization, medical and life insurances. Paid time off (15 vacation days, and  15 sick days). 13-month pay. Mandatory contributions. Contribution to retirement savings. Etc.

About PSSC

The Philippine Social Science Council (PSSC) is a private, non-stock, not-for-profit umbrella organization of professional social science societies and social science research and training institutions in the Philippines.

Established in 1968, its mission is to advance the Philippine social sciences and, at the same time, serve as a platform for interdisciplinary dialogues and activities. PSSC continues to be of service to the social sciences community by giving financial support to its member-organizations in holding their national conferences; provides supplementary funds for the conduct of research and conference presentation abroad; organizes training workshops on timely and relevant topics; and recently, established the Social Science Ethics Review Board (SSERB) that promotes ethical standards and practices in social science research. It also generates new knowledge through the conduct of research and publication of books.

The Knowledge Management Officer has the following responsibilities:

  1. Expand and update all online databases and academic resource collection of PSSC, including but not limited to:
    • PSSC Data Portal
    • PSSC Knowledge Archives
    • PSSC Annual Reports
    • PSSC Publications
    • Social Science Information
    • Policy Brief Bulletin
    • Usapang Sosyal, which includes, Social Science and Society Lectures, Webinars, RTD and Think Pieces
  2. Administer grant programs or fellowships, such as but not limited to:
      • PSSC Research Award Program
      • PSSC International Conference Assistance Program
      • Virginia A. Miralao Excellence in Research Award
      • Loretta Makasiar Sicat Prize in Social Sciences
  3. Network with philanthropic organizations to expand PSSC grant programs
  4. Maintain and improve Frank X. Lynch SJ Library and PSSC Book Shop, both offline and online operations
  5. Lead in the implementation of knowledge sharing events, including webinars, roundtable discussions, scientific lectures, and award ceremonies
  6. Attend relevant conferences, workshops, and training sessions to enhance personal and professional knowledge
  7. Provide secretarial support to PSSC meetings, trainings, lectures, and conferences, including documentation of proceedings as needed, and
  8. Perform other tasks assigned by the Head of PDMS or the Executive Director.

Qualifications

  1. Knowledge, skills and abilities
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skill
    • IT savvy and proficient in the use of office software and database/repository management
    • Familiar with and has interest in social science materials and publications
    • Able to work well in a multi-task environment, independently and with a team
    • Able to prioritize assignments to meet deadlines

  • Hardworking 
  • Meticulous/detail-oriented 
  • Resourceful
  • Diligent
  1. Training and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, or its equivalent
  • Must be a licensed librarian
  • At least one-year work experience in library services
