8th National Social Science Congress
Inclusive Governance: Gateways to Sustainable Futures
15-17 June 2016
The Eight NSSC adapted “Inclusive Governance: Gateways to Sustainable Futures” as the theme and was held outside of Metro Manila for the first time on 15-17 June 2016. The Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas accepted PSSC’s invitation to co-organize the Congress. This conference brought together academics, practitioners, and students from various social science disciplines and professions to discuss issues, theories, and methodologies related to the role of governance in forging sustainable futures. It provided a platform for the active engagement and rethinking of social science categories such as power, legitimacy, inclusion, and governance through paper presentations drawn from empirical, conceptual, practice or policy research.
NSSC 8 had 23 parallel sessions, nine of which were organized by PSSC member-associations, and the rest were panel sessions organized from the submitted papers. In addition, before the three-day Congress, pre-congress training workshops (with five topics) were also organized.
