9th National Social Science Congress
Resilience in our Times
20-22 February 2020
Co-organized by the Holy Trinity College in General Santos City, the NSSC 9 was held on 20-22 February 2020 and had Resilience in Our Times as the theme. Around 250 participants attended the Congress, most of whom came from Mindanao. There was a total of 124 presentations across 36 panels. Social scientists (and other sectors of the society) engaged in the discussions about the dimensions of Resilience in the face of climate change, imperialist plunder, war and peace, disaster risk reduction, international relations, socio-ecological systems, human development, planning, communication, among others.
NSSC 9 produced the book entitled “Resilience in our Times“, a compilation of six selected and refereed papers presented at the Congress.
Like the previous Congress, NSSC 9 also held a pre-congress training on “Publishing Social Science Research” on 19 February 2020 in partnership with the Department of Sociology of the Mindanao State University-General Santos City. Forty-one Congress participants also signed up for the training.
