The Pole Star of Social Democracy Has Burnt Out, What Should We Do Now?

This policy brief discusses Sweden as the pole star of social democratic thought, albeit a fading one. Now it has burnt out, short of international alternatives to the victorious radical right and NATO. It recommends that self-critical liberals in the spirit of John Stuart Mill, greens, and leftists need to get together and decide on how to move ahead.

The UP CIDS Policy Brief Series features short reports, analyses, and commentaries on issues of national significance and aims to provide research-based inputs for public policy.
