Term: The Executive Director shall serve a three-year term, from July 2025 to June 2028, renewable upon satisfactory performance evaluation to be conducted by the PSSC Evaluation Committee.

Salary: Salaries at the Philippine Social Science Council (PSSC) are dependent on applicable PSSC salary scales, qualifications, and internal pay policies including equity considerations and budget. 

Benefits: Medical and life insurances, if qualified. Paid time off (15 vacation days, and 15 sick days). 13-month pay. Mandatory contributions. Contribution to retirement savings as mandated in the PSSC Manual of Policies and Standard Operating Procedures. Etc.

About PSSC: 

The PSSC is a private, non-stock, not-for-profit umbrella organization of professional social science societies and social science research and training institutions in the Philippines.

Established in 1968, its mission is to advance the Philippine social sciences and, at the same time, serve as a platform for interdisciplinary dialogues and activities. PSSC continues to be of service to the social sciences community by giving financial support to its member-organizations in holding their national conferences; provides supplementary funds for the conduct of research and conference presentation abroad; organizes training workshops on timely and relevant topics; and recently, established the Social Science Ethics Review Board (SSERB) that promotes ethical standards and practices in social science research. It also generates new knowledge through the conduct of research and publication of books.

The Executive Director has the following specific duties and responsibilities:

  1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Council and the various Secretariat units;
  2. Monitor the progress of the Council’s regular programs, services, and activities;
  3. Ensure the financial viability of the Council through the judicious use of resources, based on the approved program of disbursements (budget) and the mobilization of resources in support of the Council’s programs, services, and activities;
  4. Promote PSSC’s projects and programs to its international and local partners, manage collaborative projects and programs, as well as network with research, governmental, academic, and non-governmental organizations in the country in pursuit of the Council’s objectives;
  5. Periodically evaluate the performance of programs and secretariat personnel, the former in line with program targets, and the latter, done in collaboration with the Head of Program Development and Management Section, as regards expected measures of accomplishment;
  6. Based on the evaluation of programs and personnel, prepare and submit recommendations for program and personnel decisions to the Board of Trustees;
  7. Attend all BOT and Committee Meetings;
  8. Represent the PSSC in relevant national, regional, and international associations; and
  9. Perform other functions indicated in the PSSC By-laws and as assigned by the BOT.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  1. Citizenship: Must be a Filipino citizen. Applicants with dual citizenship may be considered, provided they reside in Metro Manila, Philippines.
  2. Educational Background: Preferably holds a doctoral degree in a social science-related field.
  3. Professional Portfolio: Should possess a strong research portfolio, along with experience in training and publication work.
  4. Leadership Experience: Should have at least five years of experience in managing an organization.
  5. PSSC Knowledge: Must have substantial knowledge of and exposure to the operations of the PSSC.
  6. Full-Time Availability: Must be willing to commit to a full-time role and regularly report physically.
  7. Fundraising Commitment: Must have prior resource generation experience.
  8. Policy Compliance: Must adhere to the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) Policy.
  9. Fitness: Must be fit to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
