The Philippine Social Science Council is pleased to announce that George Emmanuel R. Borrinaga, PhD has been chosen as the recipient of the 2021 Virginia A. Miralao (VAM) Excellence in Research Award for his article “José Rizal in the Emotional Landscape of Samar and Leyte at the Turn of the 20th Century,” published in the Philippine National Historical Society’s The Journal of History, Vol. LXVI (2020).
The VAM Excellence in Research Award serves as an incentive for young social scientists to pursue original and meaningful research. Every year, it recognizes the best article, book chapter, or book written by a promising young scholar in the profession.
